Abstract
This paper seeks to present the forms of resistance of Bishop Pedro Casaldáliga in the region of Araguaia, who even during the period of military repression worked in favor of minorities through speeches in support of social movements and human rights. Located in the area that is already part of the Legal Amazon, Northeast of the State of Mato Grosso, the Araguaia region is popularly known as "Valley of the Forgotten" by the "big void" and lack of basic infrastructure. It is a place marked by social disparities, latifundia and large agricultural projects in conflict with small producers, farmers, squatters and indigenous people. In this context, the Prelacy of St. Felix of Araguaia-MT, led by D. Pedro Casaldáliga, developed discursive practices of citizenship, whether by its action as religious or through poetry, letters and by the Prelazia newspaper itself, Alvorada newspaper, characterizing new relations by the progressive bias, in combat to neoliberal policies, in favor of the social movements. Considering the discursive practices of the bishop and the critical-social role developed by the religious subject in that circumscription, the objective of this research is to identify in the light of the French Discourse Analysis the discourses that constitute the bishop subject, engaged in the struggle for human rights and which are also responsible for the constitution of discursively formed subjects. From this, we also present how the relation of know-power in discursive practices in the region of Araguaia, since it refers to the forms of resistances and processes of subjectivation. We adopted as methodology a qualitative-interpretative research of bibliographic and documentary procedure, with descriptive analysis of the corpus. Thus, for the discursive analysis of the corpus, two levels of analysis were used: the first by the device of axiomatic analysis, with the objective of revealing the constitutive discursive formations of the subject bishop Casaldáliga; the second level of analysis aims to identify, through the analytical-critical method (of discourse control systems), in the discursive and non-discursive practices of the subject Casaldáliga, the relations of know-power and practices of resistances responsible for subjectivation of subjects in the region of Araguaia. For this, we will mobilize the theoretical contribution of French Speech Analysis, represented by Michel Foucault (1979, 1995, 1997, 1999a, 1999b, 2000); Michel Pêcheux (2007, 2009, 2014); among others. In this way, we identify that it is a religious leader, engaged in the fight for democracy and in defense of human rights, with strong discursive power in the region.
