Abstract

"A Casa da Ponte", located in Itauçu/GO and built in 1932, has performed multiple functions since its origins, initially as a school in the village of Catingueiro Grande, then a residence, until the moment it became a museum. Built by the lebanese couple Gabriel José and Sara Antônio José, the house became not just a building, but a living testimony of the community's evolution over the decades. This work has as its central objective to highlight the importance of Casa da Ponte as a symbol of resistance and preservation of local memory. The methodology adopted involved a historical approach, exploring since construction in 1932 until current function as a museum, educational and cultural space. Residents’ narratives especially those over 59 years old, were collected, bringing collective memories that contribute to local identity. In the scope of Heritage Education, an Affective Guide was proposed as an educational product for the Municipal School "Visão do Futuro – Professora Iracema Netto José". The results revealed the historical relevance of Casa da Ponte and the challenges in preserving this heritage. Educational strategies to integrate the community into conservation were identified, recognizing the importance of dialogue among various actors, including the community, government agencies and cultural entities. The resumption of museum activities after the pandemic represents an opportunity to strengthen ties between the museum and the population. In short, this work highlights that Casa da Ponte transcends its physical condition, being a link between past and present, a symbolic space of resistance. The preservation of this heritage is a collective responsibility and the proposed Affective Guide aims to emotionally connect the school community to local history, contributing to a solid collective identity and strengthening ties with the history of who was born in Itauçu.
