Afeto e permanência: o louvor a São João Batista na comunidade da rua do Campim na cidade de Goiás

Abstract

The objective of this study is to understand, from the participation of the residents of Rua do Capim, the cultural meanings and their relationship of identity with the Arraiá do Capim June party. The party has been held for over seventy years by the community of the street, a space located in the Carmo neighborhood in the city of Goiás. It is intended to verify the leisure dimension experienced and provided for those who organize and/or participate in the party, as well as to investigate if there is an affective permanence on the part of its makers, since it is a traditional party, but little known and not studied either. The choice of the city and the party was not a casual one, but a personal one, since the researcher/author is a regular visitor to the city and a visitor to the party. The June party "Arraiá do Capim" takes place in the month of June, a party that honors St. John the Baptist, saint protector of the community. In the research, it is realized that besides being a religious feast, it is also a moment of relaxation for its protagonists and for the spectators.
