Abstract

This research is part of line of research 2 - Literary Studies and Interculturality, and is based on the basis of research in literature. Analyzes the novel O corpo interminavel, by Cláudia Lage based on its interrelations with the Brazilian military dictatorship and considering historiography, together with the categories of memory and testimony. It also analyzes female participation and how literature contributes to the non-erasing of traumatic events that left their marks that echo to this day. In the novel, in addition to the main character and the central story, female narrators appear who put into perspective the suffering and pain that torture caused. For these discussions, theoretical references from Motta (2021), Napolitano (2014), Lima (2020), Gaspari (2002) among others are presented. To endorse the research on memories and testimony and the relationships between literature in the writing of historical events, we sought support in the studies of Figueiredo (2017), Seligmann-Silva (2003), Dalcastagnè (1996), as well as other authors who discuss this issue. Divided into three chapters, this research deals in the first part with the military dictatorship in Brazilian literature; in the second about the categories history and memory and in the third part it analyzes other relationships in the novel, female voices and women's participation in the dictatorship. The results demonstrate that the female voices mentioned several times in the romance are of pain, suffering, despair and the search for relief. Lage's novel (2019) highlights the appreciation of the female body, discusses the role of women over time and space and provokes the resurgence of the subject of military dictatorship and amnesty. Therefore, the romance presents discussion and reflection on Brazil's violent past. The endless body is an important representation of torture, kidnappings, prisons and cellars of the dictatorship.
