Abstract

The "Chica Doida" is a traditional dish from Goiás made with corn, originating in Quirinópolis (Goiás). Due to the dish's success, it has spread to other regions of the state and the rest of Brazil. On April 13, 2022, it was officially recognized as part of Goiás' Cultural and Intangible Heritage. The dish has its own festival, held almost every year, featuring renowned chefs, performances by famous local and national artists, and more. The recipe for this delicacy has also been presented on popular television shows like Ana Maria Braga's and Frutos da Terra. This research aims to study the Chica Doida gastronomy as a key element of major events in Quirinópolis, seeking to uncover the significance of this dish in the social and leisure life of the community. It also intends to identify the relationships and developments surrounding this iconic feature of a non-touristic place. Additionally, analyzing the food and its production methods is part of understanding human culture and identity, as well as how these customs are preserved. The methodological tools used include institutional databases of scientific production (books, articles, dissertations, theses), documents provided by the Quirinópolis Department of Commerce and Tourism, online news reports, and the event’s social media pages. This study is of great importance for the preservation of local cultures and traditions.
