Abstract

Urban space is constantly changing, influenced by economic, social, and temporal dynamics. In Anápolis, Goiás, this reality is also evident, especially due to public and private investments directed at certain sectors of the city, particularly some strategic road arteries, which are important integration networks. On certain avenues, there is a greater supply of services and businesses, both public and private, which contributes to the appreciation of these areas. By concentrating infrastructure and economic activities, these locations become vectors of urban development— spaces that drive the city's growth by facilitating access to areas of greater economic value and promoting the circulation of goods, people, and capital. Some of these vectors can become luminous zones, attracting more capital, generating jobs, and offering high economic value. On the other hand, there are avenues where the impacts of these transformations are less pronounced. In these areas, there is a lack of public and private investment, resulting in problems with basic infrastructure and a limited supply of services. These are areas with lower real estate value and predominantly occupied by a population with lower purchasing power, known as opaque zones. This spatial division between luminous and opaque zones generates processes of socio-spatial segregation, reflected in the disparity between social classes present in these urban networks. These inequalities are evident in the characteristics of housing, the quality of urban spaces, and the configuration of the landscape, reinforcing the fragmentation and socio-spatial segregation in Anápolis. Thus, development vectors act as engines that energize specific parts of the city, while other integration networks remain marginalized, highlighting the contradictions of urban growth and the need for policies that promote greater balance and territorial integration
