Abstract
The search for efficient and ecological methodologies is constant by the researchers with the aim of furthering more complex, functional and bioactive molecules. Conventionally, synthetic proposals occur in a large number of reaction stages, high temperatures, and use toxic solvents, etc., factors that make the process inefficient and unfeasible, since they generate waste production, a high final cost of the process, besides of harming the environment. The green chemistry proposes the development of methodologies that, besides of being efficient, are practical and clean, encouraging the use of solvents that are not aggressive to the environment, instead of the conventional ones. In this way, the present study aimed the synthesis and characterization of different hexahydroimidazo [1,2-α] pyridines derivatives, employing as catalytic system the PEI.LI ionic liquid and MeOH as reaction medium. The methodology was based on a four-component reaction between an aromatic aldehyde, acetophenone and ethylenediamine, enabling the synthesis of 10 functionalized compounds with yields that ranged from 9% – 93%. These derivatives were purified and their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods (IR, 1H NMR and/or 13C NMR). The biological assay MIC and MBC were carried out and indicated that the compounds 23c, 23f and 23m are potentials antimicrobial against the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, and the compounds 23b e 23f the Escherichia coli.
