Abstract

This research has as its theme the inclusion of people with disabilities in higher education, based Center for Accessibility and Inclusion of the University Center of Anápolis – UniEVANGÉLICA. The general objective was to analyze to what extent the Accessibility Center of the researched HEI is contributing to the permanence and success of students with disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders, high abilities, giftedness and/or who present some special educational need. The secondary objectives were: to describe the implementation process of the Accessibility and Inclusion Nucleus of the researched HEI; identify the main difficulties in accessing students with disabilities to higher education; analyze the role of the Specialized Educational Service – AEE. The study is based on a qualitative exploratory approach, paying attention to the quantitative aspects that were raised during the work process, such as: number of students with disabilities per course; number of requests for technical help; types of disability per course, among others. This research is characterized as qualitative as it sought to analyze the implementation and development of the Accessibility Center in their local contexts, as directed by Flick (2009, p. 37). A bibliographical and documentary research of the documentation of the creation of the Accessibility and Inclusion Center, of the general documentation of the studied HEI was carried out. G1, and structured questionnaire for G2. The instruments were sent by email and delivered in person for later return, given the restrictions imposed by the pandemic state. The work is theoretically based on authors who discuss the topic, among which we highlight: Reis (2006, 2013); Jannuzzi (2012); Mazzota (201. The research revealed that the Accessibility Center was legally established, being linked to the Institution's Rectory. The analysis of the Accessibility and Inclusion Program revealed that all five accessibility spectrums under the responsibility of the Center were covered. , in terms of architectural accessibility, the campus presented adequate conditions for people with physical disabilities and/or reduced mobility, and with visual impairments, in terms of accessibility for people with autism spectrum disorder, it was found that there was a specific program executed by the Psychology course, with the Nucleus having the role of monitoring its execution. During the period studied, it was found that there was a percentage of 0.05% of students enrolled with some type of disability. It is believed that this percentage may change in reason for the new calculation used by IBGE to identify people with disabilities. Finally, it was found that the Núcleo de A accessibility of the HEI has met the legislation, however it lacks expansion of its professional staff, and a more expressive role in methodological accessibility (pedagogical).
