A memória na ressignificação identitária no romance “Mesa dos inocentes", de Adelice da Silveira Barros

Abstract

"Mesa dos Inocentes" (2014), written by Adelice da Silveira Barros, is a novel that, besides bringing the bond between memory and identity, gives opportunity to discuss about the patriarchal society and the feminine empowerment. Its narrative presents as a memorialistic speech, because it brings and mix events of the past and the present. Ana Vitória, the narrator and protagonist, by the age 60 she accepts to make a travel, both time and space, coming back to her home tall and reliving her past, with ends to find possible answers to her restlessness. In this way, the character visits her own history in search to reaffirm her identity since the contemporary being is fragmented. The main point of this work is to investigate how much the memory is important in the resignification of identity in the analyzed plot. Also to approach the relation between the patriarchal society and the feminine empowerment. As results, there was comprehension of the changing feature, the roll of memory for the identity reconstitution, as it was and as it is the process of the subjection of women to men demands, what- in parts – motivates the search for empowerment. Finally, hopes to contribute in the Literature Studies area, to make the writer and her novel more known, besides assisting in the expansion of the critical fortune regarding other works of the author.
