Transgeneridade, universidade e vida : histórias e construções identitárias de mulheres trans

Abstract

The research aims to understand and analyze the meanings of transgender people regarding the constitution of their gender identity, in relation to social phenomena and cultural institutions such as the family, school, State, University, among others. I understand gender as a historical- social construction from the binary conception of heteronormativity, the research is based on transfeminist, gender and phenomenological theories. The theoretical path is based on the theories of Hall (2006), Woodward (2000) about identity; to think about gender issues we used Butler (2004), Jesus (2004) and Louro (2013). The methodological path is a phenomenological research, with exploratory objectives, bibliographic and empirical procedures. Participate in the study, 3 trans women who were willing to participate voluntarily. The narratives point to situations of violence in their social relationships, as well as the denial of the existence of identities outside the essentialist cisnormative standard, often leading to exclusion and impossibility of access to basic rights for the construction of human dignity. The so-called “transsexualizing process” of transformation of the body in search of the performativity of the gender to which they identify is observed. The results point to the need to think about gender identities beyond the conception of compulsory cisnormativity.
