Abstract
This work is the result of research enrolled in the Postgraduate Program in Education at the State University of Goiás, in the Work, State and Educational Policies Research Line. It is considered that the research on screen is of interest to both students and researchers in the area of education, as well as in the area of law and human rights. It deals with education associated with legal sciences with a legislative framework on the topic. As a research problem, an understanding of the importance of educating people in spaces of deprivation of freedom is pursued, whether for their autonomy of thought or for intellectual development, but also for their resignification and construction of new perspectives for the return to broader social life. Premises were outlined for further developments of the problem presented. Thus, the circumscribed object of study is school education developed in prison, in a non-educational environment, and the Regional Women's Prison Unit of Inhumas is taken as a case, in a context very different from traditional schools, not only in relation to the location, but also with regard to the student body marked by exclusion, abandonment and violence. The aim is to understand the education developed in the prison environment and how it is received by people serving sentences in a closed regime. The bureaucratic trajectory is outlined to be able to enter the walls of the Inhumas Regional Women's Prison Unit as a researcher, have access to the inmates and seek out what the education carried out there is like. The problematization that guides this research aims to understand the school experiences within the Regional Women's Prison Unit of Inhumas, whether they are sufficient to meet the social right to education provided for in the Federal Constitution of Brazil and what is the possibility of access and the interest of people there. incarcerated in having school education. The general objective is to analyze whether the educational activity carried out in the Prison Unit under research satisfactorily complies with current legislation, regarding the social right to education guaranteed to incarcerated citizens. The specific objectives aimed to understand and analyze the specificities of the Brazilian penitentiary system from the Inhumas Regional Women's Prison Unit; present elements about the incarcerated public in Brazil; understand how the prison establishment is structured in terms of physical and organizational aspects; analyze the pedagogical structure and the project developed at the school of the Regional Women's Prison Unit of Inhumas. From the perspective of understanding, the exploratory research methodology was used with a qualitative approach based on documentary research, with study and analysis of theoretical and bibliographical references books, scientific works and legislation, in addition to the listening method carried out through semi-structured interviews with research subjects, in which the interviewees were free to speak, without a defined time for response and without interruptions. As provisional conclusions in relation to the research carried out, it was possible to understand that we live in an exclusionary society and that, despite the range of human rights that we have guaranteed in legislation, the incarcerated public is still deprived of the most basic of rights. In Brazil, the reality is punishing prisons, without society knowing what goes on behind the walls and bars of those places where human beings are crowded together and deprived of their rights and, often, their own dignity, in addition to being stigmatized, of so that, when they leave prison, they are not welcome in society. This research delved into just one of these rights, the right to education, which is offered in a very precarious way, however, its importance is such that even with any disability, it is capable of having significant effects for the incarcerated public.
