Os gemidos estão sempre presentes : memórias negras ficcionais em Conceição Evaristo e Buchi Emecheta

Abstract

In this dissertation we intend to research the encounters and mismatches in the narratives of the novels "Becos da memória" by the Brazilian female writer Conceição Evaristo and "Cidadã de segunda classe" by the Nigerian female writer Buchi Emecheta as well as their lives and works. For this purpose, we utilized the Comparative Literature methodology, which allows the rapprochement of the novels. Besides, was essential to search for conceptual definitions about aspects relevant to the writers' lives, two black women born in the 1940s, nevertheless separated by the Atlantic and the differences between their countries. Therefore, we seek to understand how these authoresses constituted themselves as writers according to the research of the novels' construction in Brazil and Nigeria. In Brazilian Literature we made an indentation approaching the black female novelists' genealogy; and how this base consists in Nigerian Literature.Themes such as gender, race, class, among others, are intertwined in the narratives' construction; for this reason, those topics became the base for this dissertation. Therefore, we seek decolonial authors who present definitions and concepts that would meet how authors weave their writings. Finally, we used the memory study to understand the way these women told the stories of their people.
