Abstract

Unpaved roads are systems where the challenge has been to improve performance and reduce maintenance costs. The installation of reinforcements in this type of road is welcome. This is due to the fact that the reinforcements improve the bearing capacity and minimizes maintenance costs. Considering this issue, aimed to study the performance of geosynthetics applied as reinforcement in unpaved roads, through the verification of surface resistance (allowable stress) and the repression of a prototype road, and displacement of the geosynthetic, and estimates for analytical formulations. The tests were performed on a prototype road where a van was used as a dynamic load. Were used as reinforcement: geogrid (GG), geotextile fabric (GTW) and nonwoven geotextile (GTNW). The experimental design was a randomized block design in factorial with witness, 3 x 4 + 1 , corresponding to the three types of Gs (GG, GTNW and GTW), four installation depths of Gs (1, 2, 3 and 4) and a untreated G (G0). The results showed that the inclusion of the reinforcement improves the performance of the prototype study, reducing the repression and decreasing the tension on the subgrade.
