Memórias das folias de Morrinhos/GO : relações e transformações no rural e no urbano na modernidade tardia

Abstract

This dissertation aims to discuss the transformations that occurred in the Folias held in the Municipality of Morrinhos today, under the aegis of the concept of Late Modernity, by Anthony Giddens. Since the eighteenth century, humanity has been living under the effects of modernity. However, in recent times, the pace of transformation through which society has gone has put in check the metanarratives and cultural traditions that for years were responsible for maintaining our bond with the past. The central point defended in this research is that Folias, as a cultural element that underwent transformations as Morrinhos became urbanized and modernized, underwent transformations in its practice, rituals and customs, as a way of adapting to the new times, as well as to be able to take advantage of the benefits of modernity. The research deals with oral sources, from the perspective of Oral History, through which we collect testimonies and testimonies, contrasting them with other available sources. These sources allow us to evaluate the extent of the transformations observed in the Folias.
