Abstract
This study aims to identify the potential of comic books as a didactic resource in the promotion of Environmental Education in the first phase of Elementary School, taking as reference the Socio-Historical Theory proposed by Vygotsky and the Historical-Critical Pedagogy elaborated by Saviani and his collaborators. A research was carried out in the light of the Qualitative Research methodology that supported the elaboration and proposition of a comic book and a didactic sequence in order to constitute a didactic instrument for teachers in the task of working on the environmental theme. The results show that comic books are very relevant teaching resources in promoting critical teaching of Environmental Education promoting the expansion of students' knowledge and, consequently, a new understanding of social practice.
