Abstract

Human intellectual formation is supported by the search of knowledge and the act of thought. It is immaterial work that is not disassociated from philosophy. The research Filosofia e Infância: questões sobre autonomia acknowledges philosophy as a singular way of comprehending the world, by reflection, argumentation and critical thought. Such movement of thought occurs from one questioning itself, about the world and about human questions. Human intellectual formation happens effectively conducted by the exercise of thought. This study aims to comprehend the concept of philosophy and its relations with education and human intellectual formation based on reflection about Matthew Lipman’s Program Philosophy for Children. It is a theoretical research of bibliographic character, based on authors that investigated the theme, such as ANTUNES (2018), ARENDT (2015), ARIÈS (2012), CHAUI (1982, 2000), COÊLHO (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2016), FURTADO (2005), HADOT (2014, 2016), KOHAN (1998), LIPMAN (1990, 1995, 1997, 1998), among others. Therefore, by studies done in the present research, it is acknowledged that education, philosophy and human intellectual formation as a human labor constituted from the exercise of thought, creative will, imagination and reflection, known as inseparable realities. It is a labor that extrapolates pragmatism, contentism and instrumentality. The labor of thought is fundamental and indispensable in human intellectual formation, in confirming the humanization of men. Human intellectual formation does not happen without autonomy and that is constituted by freedom of thought, by searching for knowledge, questioning, reflecting on itself and about the world. One of the main results of the research was to comprehend that Lipman’s Program does not contribute to construction and to the exercise of autonomy on the children’s intellectual formation.
