Literatura e paisagem : interpretações literogeográficas da obra "Veranico de janeiro", de Bernardo Élis

Abstract

Landscape is a central category for the interpretation of literary works that make up Brazilian regional literature. In this sense, this research interprets the work Veranico de Janeiro, published in 1966 by the Goiás writer Bernado Élis, based on the landscapes that represent culture, society and the Sertão-Cerrado in Goiás. The rapprochement between space, landscape and literature contributed to the results developed throughout the article, which is divided into two parts. Focusing on the perspective of literary-geographical interpretation, the various forms of expression of the landscape throughout the narrative developed in the short stories of Veranico de Janeiro by Bernardo Élis, demonstrate that Bernardo's work is the primordial material and substance of Goiás culture. The landscapes featured in Bernardo Élis' narratives are expressive of the social and cultural formation of Goiás. This research demonstrates the importance of regionalist literature in the process of understanding the socio-spatial formation of Goiás. In particular, it strengthens the interpretation of Bernardo Élis' work based on the interlocution between literature and other fields of knowledge such as Geography. The theoretical basis will be based on books, theses and articles indicated by the advisor on the subject, looking to Lefebvre (1981), Cosgrove (1987), Claval (2001), Bertrand (2009), Cabral (2007), Michelde Certeau (2007), Souza (2012) as a basis. Based on the documents, articles and statistical data collected during the data search, it will be supplemented with data collected in field research.
