Ciências na escola : contribuições de um clube de ciências para o letramento científico nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental

Abstract

The discipline of Science is understood as an experimental science, of scientific proof, articulated to theoretical assumptions and, thus, the idea of carrying out experiments is disseminated as a great didactic strategy for its teaching and learning. Conducting experiments in Science represents an excellent tool for the student to materialize the content and establish a relationship between theory and practice. Therefore, a qualitative research was carried out to investigate the teaching practices of Science, as well as the scientific knowledge of students in the Initial Years of Elementary School. The work consisted of a bibliographic survey, construction and analysis of the theoretical framework and a case study. The general objective of the study is to assess whether the science club focused on insects from the Cerrado expands the literacy and scientific knowledge of these students. The research participants are 9 students from the 3rd year of Elementary School, from a private school in the city of Goiânia-GO. Data collection took place through interviews and questionnaires, which were carried out in the form of a form created in Google Forms, as well as intermediate evaluations, according to the experiments carried out throughout the project. After analyzing the data, it appears that although the participants have never attended a Science Club before, they believe that it contributes to a better understanding of scientific content. It shows that the students who participated in the activities of the Science Club with the theme Insects of the Cerrado, expanded their repertoire and benefited from the proposals developed during the practical activities.
