Abstract

This work deals with the way violence is inserted in Abaixo do paraíso, the work of the writer from Goiás André de Leones launched by the publisher Rocco in the year 2016. For that, we bring a methodology based on readings and theoretical researches of authors that deal with the approach to violence in literature, as well as the literary ensemble of André de Leones, and in conducting interviews with the writer. With the purpose of this research, we intend to understand how the theme of violence arises within Goian literary productions, focusing on the novel by André de Leones. We believe that such an analysis, in the narrative context of the novel cited, makes it possible to reveal how literature is not foreign to external influences, and that the author is never exempt from portraying the problems and dilemmas of his time. During the dissertation, we will try to work literature not only as an art, but also and fundamentally as an instrument of social analysis and an important tool in the historical, social, political and economic understanding of a people. Nevertheless, we intend to contribute to a greater appreciation of the literature produced in Goiás in the person of a writer whose works permeate the cities of Silvânia, Goiânia, Anápolis and Brasília and are filled by characters directly influenced by the context of the globalized world and living in the eternal search for a place where they can meet as an individual and repair possible mistakes of the past.
