A Presença da religiosidade na toponímia: um estudo interdisciplinar sobre os bairros de Anápolis(GO)

Abstract

The Onomastics, the branch of linguistics responsible for studying proper names, requires in its essence an interdisciplinary research. The Toponymy, one of its ramifications, dialogues well with disciplines such as History, Geography and Sociology. The study of names attributed to places is the object of this research, which aimed to study the two hundred and ninety-eigth names of districts of the city of Anápolis (GO). Due to the large number of toponyms, a thematic clipping was necessary, so the religious motivation was chosen, not by chance. Since religion is one of the main cultural manifestations of a people, it becomes interesting to see it reflected in the word process. As the proposal of this research is interdisciplinary, we seek to take into account not only linguistic aspects, but also the historical-cultural context in which the toponyms were inserted. From this, the study is guided by the principles of Onomastic science. And the theoretical methodological principles of Lexicology and Toponymy, especially by the model of Dick (1990b). The theoretical basis is also supported by the studies of three classical sociology thinkers who have left their contribution to the study of religious phenomena: Marx (2006), Durkheim (1996) and Weber (2004), and the historian Mata (2004, 2005). For this study, besides the bibliographical research, a documentary research was necessary. Maps of the city districts and documents available in public agencies of Anápolis (GO) were used. The districts analysed comprise the period of 1930-2017.
