As Rodas do tempo e a expressão da cultura no cerrado : a romaria dos carros de boi de Mossâmedes-GO (1991-2020)

Abstract

This dissertation proposes to investigate the pilgrimage of ox carts that takes place in the second half of August, ending the celebration of Catholicism that honors São José, patron saint of the city of Mossâmedes, Goiás. history of ox carts on some continents such as Europe and South America; in the Brazilian case, ox carts are inserted into the territory after colonization. In the state of Goiás, from the eighteenth century, its presence and functionality are attested in daily deals, acting as a means of transporting cargo and passengers at the time of its colonization. Thus, ox carts are part of a culture that was appropriated by different social subjects, especially in the Mossâmedes municipality. On the other hand, we seek to analyze and understand the importance of culture, from the staging of ox cart parades and their significance for different subjects involved in the pilgrimage party, such as: paths, residents of Mossâmedes, tourists and local traders. These are people who have the party as a symbol of their culture, of their identity, which is part of their imagination throughout the year, who do what they can so that this tradition is not lost, because the realization / happening of party is the peak point for them, it is their personal and also collective fulfillment. To do so, it starts from a qualitative research, in an interdisciplinary bias, concatenating areas such as History, Geography and Sociology, all within the scope of the human and social sciences. Thus, it is worth mentioning that ox carts express great importance at the present time, both in Goiás, as well as in Mossâmedes and the region, as exponents of a cultural expression of / in the Cerrado, through the pilgrimage festival of São José, the city's patron.
