Abstract
The methodologies and strategies for learning in inclusive education for students with Down
Syndrome surround the reality of schools in the State of Goiás. The inclusion process began in the mid-1990s, and is established through laws and decrees, but education professionals find it difficult to use different methodologies for teaching-learning students with special needs, specifically for students with Down Syndrome, this work aims to understand Down Syndrome in the educational context, realizing the relationship between the scientific definition of the syndrome and the constitution of inclusion/education policies for its patients. The type of research used for carrying out is based on qualitative research, as for the development of the research a broad bibliographic study was carried out on inclusion, Down's Syndrome, the types of methodologies, and finally on the teaching of science for that audience. The survey data were obtained through a questionnaire applied to 103 schools belonging to the 40 regional departments of education in the state of Goiás, revealing the main challenges and possibilities that cross the process of teaching science in the inclusive context.
