Abstract
In this present work entitled Religion and Homosexuality: a historical and sociocultural approach to Inclusive Christian Churches in Goiás, we propose a reflection about the challenge of Christian churches that objectify to soften the heated conflicts of society, regarding the insertion of minorities in religious spaces that extends over the centuries. Therefore, we started from the principle of answering the following questions: How did the inclusive churches in Goiás appeared how was their historical trajectory? What is the identity of inclusive churches in Goiás and what competition strategies are used in the local religious market? What is the main profile of inclusive churchgoers and why do they look for these churches, what do they intend to find in them that they do not find in other denominations? We seek to understand how the insertion of homosexuals in the inclusive Christian churches took place, analyzing their historical, social and cultural aspects in Goiás. In short, this research, in addition to the bibliographic analysis, had quantitative and qualitative research as well as the use of oral sources by to be constituted as a field study, using different data collection instruments such as forms, semi-structured interviews and technical visits in inclusive Christian churches so that it was possible to understand different perceptions of the research community analyzed, both in individual and collective aspects of the investigated subjects. This happens mainly because of their social places, they focus on religious
narratives without worrying about being accountable to traditional groups that perceive themselves as guardians of orthodoxy. The analysis will be based on the theoretical interpretation that these Churches are a phenomenon of late modernity and religious pluralism, which is a phenomenon resulting from the effect of this modernity, no longer having a single religion as the holder of the monopoly of society. So, these Christian religious institutions and society are not yet fully prepared to deal with the inclusion of homosexuals in their temples, which is why exclusion and resistance become alternatives to postpone this social confrontation, which can happen through historical knowledge. -cultural of religions and sexuality, allowing openness to dialogues and inclusion. In the end, we found that Inclusive Churches are religious elaborations that seek to engender a type of Christianity that differs from proposals that are more traditional. Reflecting once again that influence of modernity is where it makes traditional churches lose the power of monopoly over the lives of LGBTI +, leading them to relativize the belief and principles learned. Thus allowing him to come up with new alternatives and possibilities for the expression of his faith.
