Abstract

Abstract: The research that has as its central corpus the short stories by Caio Fernando Abreu, “Aqueles dois”; “Terça-feira gorda” and “Sargento Garcia” present in “Morangos mofados” (1982) and the “Pequeno Monstro”, published in “Os Dragões não conhecem o Paraíso” (1988), seeks to discuss homoerotic relations from the bias of the queer perspective. Bearing in mind that some of her short stories deal with issues related to sexuality and gender, in addition to generating rupture with socially legitimized models. Thus, the queer perspective seeks to include not only sexual issues or sexual desires, but a broad framework of social dynamics, such as speech, behavior, way of dressing, violence, etc. In our first chapter, the issue of contemporaneity is dealt with, and the challenges of contemporary productions that are crossed by questions of temporality such as past and future, in a continuous flow on the demands of the present, this context of the contemporary is important because, from this Through this thought, we can enter queer studies in the experience of the characters of the central corpus already mentioned, analyze the layers that permeate gay experiences, in their different forms and, from the perspective of different subjects, in their specific space and time. In view of this, the historical context of each of the stories analyzed includes issues that permeate masculinity, domination, power, and social standards. Violence is recurrent throughout the whole process, as it is seen in a veiled or overt way, either through de facto means, as in “Terça-feira gorda” or through the context of militarism and the austere environment of the barracks. For that, we based our research on the studies of Giorgio Agamben (2009); Richard Miskolci (2012); Karl Erik Schollhammer (2009); Foucault (1967; 1988; 1987; 2005; 2008; 2017); Regina Dalcastagnè (2017); Judith Butler (2000); José Calos Barcellos (2006); Mikhail Bakhtin (2002) and Jurandir Freire Costa (1992), among other scholars who contribute to this work.
