Metaficção Historiográfica no Romance O Tronco, de Bernardo Élis

Abstract

This dissertation sign up on the Research Line “Language and Social Pratices” by Universidade Estadual de Goiás’ s Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program in Education, Language and Technologies. So this way, the mainly objective of this research showed here is to analyses under the optical of historiographic metafiction (HUTCHEON, 1991), the novel “O Tronco” by the goiano writer Bernardo Élis, published in 1956. The justification is due to the fact that, although it is a historical and regional novel, the narrative is not specifically about representing the historical facts, but, through these facts, to demonstrate from the point of view "from below people" (SHARPE, 1992), another version of history, so that social and political issues are determinants in the construction of the literary narrative. Besides we can realize in this novel a historical extraction for the construction of fiction. The historical context represented in Elis’ novel is the massacre known as the Chacina do Duro, which occurred in the beginning of the 20th century, in the State of Goiás, where nine people were tied in a trunk and murdered by the police, although the literary work shows that many other people were also murdered and not recognized Alongside these notes also highlights the period of history known as the Colonels the imposition of political authorities as Antonio Ramos Caiado, Eugenio Jardim and João de Castro listed both in history and in fiction. Thus, the research is in according to the of the historiographic metafiction that is to seek in the past time reflections for the time since Literature and History are subjective narrative discourses both to the historian literary writer. As far as research is concerned, it is characterized as a bibliographic study a critical-dialectical approach. As theoretical bases for the corpus - "O Tronco" - authors of both History and Literature are used, such as Linda Hutcheon (1991), Hayden White (2008), Burke (1992), Vitor Nunes Leal (1997), Afrânio Coutinho (1999), Nelly Alves de Almeida and many others who provide scientific support in the construction of this study. The reports, therefore, that there is a historical-literary fusion in the novel and that allows us understand the work, the context of the history and the present time in a more reflective and form since through the regionalization of the story universal truths are evidenced in literary narrative. There is an evident contribution of the research regarding the way in which History and Literature intertextualize as a proposal of discussions in the (re) construction of the formation that belongs to the educational system.
