Congada de Catalão (GO) : o sincretismo da festa popular na perspectiva dos devotos (2019-2020)

Abstract

The scope of this study is to understand, from the perspective of the devotees and participants of the festivities in Praise to Nossa Senhora do Rosário, the perception of religious syncretism manifested in the Congadas de Catalão. In this perspective, the objective is to perceive in a more robust way the vision, the immersed universe of devotees in relation to the phenomenon of syncretism, experienced in the religious, cultural and popular context of these celebrations. The relevance of the discussion at the heart of this act of faith to Nossa Senhora do Rosário, São Benedito and Santa Efigênia, as they perceive and understand these congadeiros processions, their Afro-Iberian roots, in the Christian universe of popular Catholicism, their celebratory rites and connections with the Afro-Brazilian religions. A historical analysis of the origins, conceptual and interpretive aspects of the Congadas, as cultural and religious manifestations, their influences and the process of transformation, adaptations in popular tradition throughout Brazil. A discussion about the scenario in which it flourished and incorporated new elements in Brazilian lands, embodying these danced revelries, in a performatic, ritualistic and multiethnic aesthetic. Its imagery, symbolic aspects, its representations, moving, interacting, circulating in the orbit of popular Catholicism, Kardecist spiritism, Afro-Brazilian religions and their subjectivities. Speaking about the phenomenon of syncretism was an option, however, aware of other interpretative possibilities. Research based on theoretical and bibliographic analysis and references, in addition to collection, data collection, experience in the empirical experience of the festivities, obtained from observations, interviews carried out in the city of Catalão, oral history, guided the entire investigative process, indicating fruitful results for new actions and reflections.
