Abstract
In the perspective that the science club can intervene in the current context, of teaching, in Brazil and thus assist in bringing together students of basic education on scientific themes and in a better understanding of the Nature of Science, within a process of knowledge construction, the objective of this work is to evaluate and discuss the possibilities that are generated through the implantation of a science club structure, where investigative demonstrations are supported, supported by texts on the history of science, in the search for the promotion of scientific literacy (AC) of students. To this end, a Science Club was established and developed with investigative activities with elementary school students from a public school. Data were collected through questionnaires that assess students' views on aspects related to Science, in addition to a focus group interview assessed based on content analysis. The results showed that the approach achieves positive results in the students' CA process, given that the conception of the nature of Science, the relationship with the Science discipline, as well as the way of seeing and analyzing everyday phenomena have improved for most students. Thus, the science club with the use of an investigative approach, aided by texts from the history of Science, shows itself as a facilitator in the process of scientific literacy of public school students and, consequently, can contribute to the formation of students able to better understand the world around them and to act actively with a coherent and active posture in the face of everyday problems.
