Abstract

This research analyzes how the public education service contributes to the integration of the districts of Souzânia and Interlândia into the municipality of Anápolis (GO). Conceptual discussions about a place, space, power, and territory are initiated to understand the emergence of municipalities in Brazil. Therefore, the city of Anápolis is treated historically, with emphasis on its intra-municipal divisions and the urbanization process, these two indicated districts add their characteristics evidenced in the text. In parallel, legislation and facts have been presented that recount how the public education service has become part of local urbanization, integrating people and places. Regularly, the existing school institutions in these districts experience a different dynamic, with the school transport service serving many students living in surrounding rural areas and, in addition to this, outdated physical structures. Finally, it is demonstrated the value of education for the public and community good and that the effort for its valorization must be considered a priority.
