Abstract
This research analyzes the female representations in the fictional discourse of the work A Friagem by the Goian author Augusta Faro, focusing on four of her short stories. The central hypothesis investigates how the stories under study represent female characters, either maintaining or breaking social stereotypes. Using an interdisciplinary approach, it explores how female characters manifest, resist, and respond to power dynamics and gender issues present in the narratives. This is a literary analysis based on the principles of qualitative bibliographic research, divided into three chapters that discuss the selected stories from three categories: submission, female representation, and patriarchy. The justification for this research lies in the importance of highlighting literature that showcases the female struggle, offering a critical perspective on women's emancipation in oppressive contexts. Anchored in theoretical references such as Simone de Beauvoir (1967; 1970), Pierre Bourdieu (2021), Stuart Hall (2011), Heleieth Saffioti (2016), Gilberto Mendonça Teles (1995; 2007), Judith Butler (2017), Michelle Perrot (2010), Gerda Lerner (2019), among others, the research also seeks to understand how female voices emerge in Augusta Faro's literary universe and how they contribute to a debate on the condition of women in society and literature.
