Novas escrituras e múltiplas vozes nos romances “Becos da memória”, de Conceição Evaristo e “Torto arado”, de Itamar Vieira Junior

Abstract

Literary art, due to its multi-meaningful character, is capable of disturbing us by creating different contexts of enunciation. The present study aims to analyze the new writings and the multiple voices of contemporary narratives produced by Conceição Evaristo and Itamar Vieira Junior printed in their novels Becos da memória (2020) and Torto arado (2019), respectively, with the intention of understanding the connection between fiction and reality from the perspective of ancestral presence in the constructive process of these stories. Thus, writers revisit the past through the memory of their ancestors, with the intention of creating an identity consciousness for those who have always felt excluded. This work, therefore, has the pinnacle of legitimizing and strengthening black female protagonism in the construction of the novels under study through the eyes of black people themselves. This is a bibliographical research in which authors such as: Antonio Candido (2019), Beatriz Nascimento (2021), Cuti (2010), Karl Erik Schollhammer (2009), Aleida Assmann (2016), Ecléa Bosi (2004), Kabengele Munanga (2012), Lélia Gonzalez (2020), Leyla Perrone-Moisés (2016), Maurice Halbwachs (2013), Márcio Seligmann-Silva (2020), Neuza Santos Souza (1983), Tânia Pellegrini (2018), among others, with analyzes of the novels Becos da memória, by Conceição Evaristo and Torto arado, by Itamar Vieira Junior. Even though they are geographically distant, the writers share stories of lives that intertwine in themes marked by social denial, violence, silencing and resistance. This research results in identifying the literary work done by black people themselves and the empowerment of the voice of black protagonists who echo the adverse individual and/or collective memories of a Brazil vulnerable to the social inequalities still present in contemporary times.
