Abstract
This research is based on critical perspectives on language brought by Fairclough
(1997; 2001; 2003; 2013), Resende (2004; 2019), Barton (2009), among others, to
reflect the meanings present in comments motivated from the posts on the page of
the news portal “Mais Goiás” on the Social Network Instagram, which have a
journalistic nature and report the heinous violence against women. To this end, it
critically observes the discourses contained in the online comment genre (CUNHA,
2012; ENTRINGER, 2018; SAL PAZ, 2013; SANTOS, 2018), the research corpus,
having as reference theories about Critical Discourse Analysis, the debate public,
justice, rape culture, sorority and the like in order to address issues such as: What
discourses gain shape and strength through motivated comments from news
publications that report violence against women? That said, writing makes use a
research supported by the extraction of comments from the aforementioned news, to
establish the consideration given to those involved in the reported fact, verifying the
existence of segregating discourses. As considerations resulting from this
investigation, we realized that colonial texts/discourses are maintained and, thus,
reiterate practices that lower the female configuration in the face of patriarchal
society and ratify oppressive attitudes towards them. Furthermore, in the public
debate on virtureality, it exposes discourses that appeal to virtual lynching,
perpetuating the hegemonic current. Despite hatred gaining notoriety, it is important
to consider that the online comment also supports the discourse that confirms the
struggle for gender equality in an emancipatory way, even if to a lesser extent. Would
the outputs be the reflection of what we propagate and the critical thinking and, thus,
the “light at the end of the tunnel” so necessary to reach otherness? Thus, we point
to the urgency of reflecting on the practice of commenting online.
