Abstract

The dissertation Training, modernity and education: in question the school is linked to the Culture, School and Training Research Line and discusses the term paideía, formation of Greek man,raising questions about modernity and the genesis of didactics in Comenius. Of a bibliographic and theoretical nature, with a view to philosophical reflection, the research has as references authors such as Vernant (2022), Jaeger (2013), Comenius (2006, 2011), Coêlho (2009, 2012, 2016), Chauí(2016, 2001 , 1980), among others. The study presents itself as a return to the Greeks, to understand their paideía and from this to think about some issues, such as education, school and training in the present time. We seek to think about the genesis of modernity, the transformations that occurred, starting from the understanding of the didactics and time of João Amos Comenius.From the research it is recognized that the true meaning of paideía has been lost in the context ofthe prevalence of technical discourse and logic, technical rationality and a formation alienated and manipulated by the interests of the capitalist system, more precisely the needs of the market. Given this reality, reflection on Greek paideia is fundamental. The return to the ancient Greeks is not considered as a possibility of calling into question human formation, the understanding of issue sconstitutive of existence and life in the community. Thus, the historical return considered as a possibility of issues regarding education, school and training today. This research sought to showthe gap between education and training thought of and carried out as paideía and modern education and training that, under the guidance of didactics, constitutes the current school. The study consists of a conceptual approach to the object of study in question and is not intended as prescriptive ordefinitive, on the contrary, it is recognized as opening the possibility of continuity in the sense of deepening the topic investigated.
