As Relações comerciais Brasil-China e o mercado agroexportador do sudoeste goiano

Abstract

Foreign trade has fundamental importance for the economy of Goiás, and has been showing positive results, especially since the year of 2000. The list of exports from Goiás is basically composed of exports of soybean, meat and minerals. In the last decade, China has become the main destination for the exports of Goiás, leading both in exported volume (tons) and in revenue (US$). With strong support from public capital and an increase in Foreign nvestments, soybean cultivation advanced in Goiás, mainly aiming to meet international demand. This work aims to present data on soybean exports to China in the last decade, with emphasis on the municipalities of Rio Verde and Jataí, which are the two largest soybean exporters in the state of Goiás. Thus, the present study is based on the problem of understanding how the growth of soybean exports in Goiás impacted the other economic indicators of the analyzed municipalities. What are the impacts of the trade relationship between China and Brazil on the Goiás economy? What is the importance of soybean in the export market of Goiás? How has soybean production in Goiás been restructured to meet the new demands of the national and international market? We sought to answer the questions and problems that guided the research, using quantitative and qualitative methodology, through the collection and consolidation of statistical data; analyzing and interpreting them in an interdisciplinary perspective.
