Arte e catástrofe : manifestações artísticas sobre o acidente com o Césio-137 em Goiânia (1987 - 2019)

Abstract

This research seeks to understand the ways in which the art evolves when it treats about a catastrophic event. Starting from the accident with cesium - 137, we try to show the evolution of artistic manifestations that addressed the theme of contamination of cesium – 137, in 1987, in Goiânia. From this, works performed in the initial period, simultaneous to the event, and works produced in a period after thirty years of the event are opposed in order to understand the different ways in which the artists behaved in the face of the historical moment of the state of Goiás. Through such works, it will seek to understand how the artists' postures changed in the face of the catastrophe, how they absorbed the accident and how this tragedy was transformed into an artistic manifestation; about how a catastrophic event can be transformed into art, and how such content changes according to the distance in time and in context of the artistic creation. Therefore, the study enters the universe of the art, focusing the catastrophe as a catalyst for artistic works and the ways how their production crosses the artists and proves their attitudes uncommitted with the obviousness of the real.
