Abstract

The teaching of biological evolution is cause for concern not only in Brazil, but also in the world. Several studies have pointed to some factors that hinder this process, such as the fragmentation of Biology content, textbooks with conceptual errors, unprepared teachers and students to deal with the theme, and religious concepts linked to this theme. Faced with the importance of biological evolution for the understanding of other contents of the natural sciences, this work had as objective to identify the main barriers faced by both teachers in teaching and students to learn about this subject and, a didactic resource that can contribute to minimize these difficulties. The paper was structured in three parts, which resulted in three articles. The first is about a focus group composed of high school teachers from the public network of Goiás, in the discussion of the key points for understanding the teaching scenario of this curricular component, the choice of didactic resources employed and the challenges faced in this teaching learning process. In the second one, we used the methodology of the construction of conceptual maps for the subunits survey in the teaching of biological evolution, together with students of the 3rd year of high school in the public network of Goiás. In the third article the process of elaboration and application of the an educational product made up of a paradise book entitled "Where Did We Separate? - The Evolutionary History of Equidae ". The article also brings the results of its effectiveness as didactic resource facilitator of the learning process of Biological Evolution in High School.
