Abstract
We need to understand the importance of the deployment and implementation of environmental education (EA) on rural schools, both as public policy like dynamic tool for the strengthening of the subject and of the communities where they work fundamental aspects as territoriality, awareness and participation in environmental aspects, political, economic and social, along with reconnecting and recognitions of the traditions and culture, with a view to having a dignified and sustainable life. The objective of this study is to verify the existence of the practice of public policies of Environmental Education and the application of the Curriculum Guidelines proposed by the Ministry of Education, guided by the National Program of Environmental Education in Brazil for Elementary School I (1st to 5th year) in the rural municipal schools of Piracanjuba/GO. In order to carry out the research, we opted for a methodology based on the foundations of action-participation-research (IAP), since this is an important resource for understanding the social-scientific role of helping to reduce socioeconomic injustices, its possibility of generating socio-political awareness among the subjects participating in the process, allowing us to examine cultural issues beyond academic formalism in search of research balance with the use of combined forms of analysis, individual and collective research, and dialogue of knowledge. Our investigations make possible to affirm that when studying the history of brazilian education, especially education in rural areas, it has been treated by the public power as a compensatory policy, without considering the context in which schools are inserted, with their social, ecological, political, cultural and territorial relations. In the course of the research, a significant number of problems are observed and analysed, not only in relation to the implementation of public policy and compliance with the National Curricular Guidelines for Environmental Education, but also others problems, faithful representatives of the denial and neglect of public entities before the law decent education and quality in an ecologically balanced and healthy environment for the rural population.
