Abstract
When observing the history of the city, as well as in other contexts, the child in
particular, but also women, young people, the elderly and people with disabilities, is
always hidden and denied as a social group, that is, for a long time, the child was
ignored. as a capable and rational historical subject. And the recent progress of cities,
especially large cities, was intended only to serve the adult citizen and producer, which
made dependence on the car essential for the city dweller. The proposal of this work
turned to the question: how to break the idea of specific and fragmented spaces for the
child, and reconquer the street and sidewalk in the city for them? When researching
the urban mobility of children that brings the city of Goiânia-GO as an example, we
seek as an objective: to understand the city from the logic of the increase in car traffic
and the separation of the uses of urban spaces for children. The work unfolds into
three more specific objectives: Demonstrate the relationship between city, mobility and
children, in which we focus on mobility as an essential aspect of social practice, as well
as analyze the conception and planning of the city of Goiânia from the public policies
adopted. until the moment. Finally, to deal with the aspects that contribute for cities to
become living spaces with the participation of children. Thus, it is expected that the
results of this work can contribute to everyone's awareness and review of the role that
the city plays in children's lives.
