Abstract
This dissertation aimed to analyze the challenges related to the implementation of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) within the context of the Center for Distance Teaching and Learning (CEAR) at the State University of Goiás (UEG), taking into account aspects such as human and technological infrastructure, staff training, and the potential impacts of these technologies on the educational process. The research adopted a qualitative approach based on a case study, employing content analysis of questionnaires and interviews conducted with technical staff, faculty members, sectoral coordinators, and coordinators in the areas of academics, pedagogy, and technology, along with institutional and regulatory documents. The analyses were structured into three dimensions, technical, pedagogical, and institutional, allowing a comprehensive understanding of the integration process of ITS in-Distance Education (DE). The results reveal that despite advancements in infrastructure and current innovation policies, significant challenges remain concerning teacher training, pedagogical integration of AI-based technologies, and institutional technical support. The findings highlight that the effective implementation of ITS requires intersectoral actions that align strategic planning, organizational culture, and continuous training policies. This study contributes to critical reflection on the integration of intelligent technologies in public higher education and offers insights to support the formulation of policies more aligned with local needs.
