Memória, identidade e políticas públicas na comunidade remanescente de Quilombo Boa Nova do município de Prof. Jamil (GO)

Abstract

This research was carried out in the Boa Nova Community, located in the municipality of Professor Jamil, in the state of Goiás. Our proposal is to investigate how this community fights for its right to citizenship in dialogue with the other struggles undertaken by remaining quilombo communities at the national level. For this, our analysis is based on the strategies coordinated by the Quilombola Associations formed within the groups that are defined by their identity character and seek in the artifice of memory, orality and the history of their ancestors the basis of their struggle. In this direction, our intention was to understand how from this mechanism the quilombolas of the Good News produce their social actions to conquer their rights. For this purpose, we used oral sources, through interviews, and textual, reviewing the biography on the topic. In addition, we analyze the relation of the municipal, state and federal public policies as agents of the promotion of the improvement of the quality of life for communities remaining quilombo. We understand that this research can contribute to the debates about the actions practiced by quilombola communities that seek to materialize their social rights through the conquest of their citizenship. Finally, to reaffirm what was verified in this investigation where the main speech of the quilombolas is that they do not expect, much less want favors from the government. On the contrary, they aspire only the right to be a full citizen and have access to the spaces in which, historically, their ancestors were deprived.
