Governança Ambiental e sustentabilidade: uma investigação nas empresas do segmento industrial no Estado de Goiás

Abstract

This study, titled "Environmental Governance and Sustainability: An Investigation in the Industrial Sector Companies of the State of Goiás," used the quadripolar method to assess the environmental performance of companies in Goiás. The research was conducted through structured questionnaires, with closed-ended questions, administered via Google Forms using a 5-point Likert scale. The main objective was to analyze the companies' commitment to environmental, social, and sustainability governance practices. The study sought to investigate whether companies in the state of Goiás incorporate sustainable development into their business strategies, strengthening their relationships with stakeholders and adopting practices that promote the responsible use of natural resources. The respondents were managers of companies affiliated with the Federation of Industries of Goiás (FIEG), and data collection took place between 2023 and 2024. Out of the 150 questionnaires sent, 46 responses were obtained. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, with the mean as the measure of central tendency, as well as the interpretation of relative frequency percentage and Pearson's Coefficient of Variation (CV). The research is relevant due to the current climate and social challenges, as the adoption of sustainable practices not only contributes to environmental preservation but also enhances the companies' image with their stakeholders. The results indicated a growing commitment among large industries in Goiás to sustainability, suggesting progress toward a more sustainable future, aligned with social expectations and global environmental protection requirements.
