Abstract
The dissertation discusses the role of the library as a space for mediating the habit of reading and human development from the perspective of students at the Instituto Federal de Goiás, Câmpus Inhumas. The research problematization consists of: do Instituto Federal de Goiás, Câmpus students consider the library as a space for mediating the habit of reading and human development? The general objective is to understand and analyze the role of the Instituto Federal de Goiás, Câmpus Inhumas library as a mediation space, from the students' perspective. The specific objectives of this research proposal are: Describe the concept of mediation within the scope of historical-cultural theory; examine the role of the library as a mediation space in relation to the second habit of reading and human development, literature; Identify the perspective of the Instituto Federal de Goiás, Câmpus Inhumas students on the role of the library as a space for mediating the habit of reading and human development. Therefore, this is a research with a qualitative approach that is justified by being covered by the proposal presented, as it does not take into account the numerical perspective, but rather seeks to deepen the understanding of a social group. To achieve the general and specific objectives, a bibliographical research was carried out covering the macro themes Libraries School Mediation Human Development and Historical-Cultural Theory and also a field research at the Instituto Federal de Goiás Câmpus Inhumas with students from the last series of technical courses, from through the application of a questionnaire, understanding the students' perception of the problem. The theoretical framework is based on Historical-cultural Theory and authors who deal with this topic, from authors such as Vygotsky, Davydov, Libâneo, among others, with the aim of outlining the study from the perspective of human development. Therefore, this research is necessary to understand the mediation of the library in the reading habit and in the human development of students in the final year of technical courses at the Instituto Federal de Goiás, Câmpus Inhumas, in the school library, changing establishing links between the Education and Librarianship.
