Abstract

This study has as its theme the cell phone use in schools of Basic Education seeks to understand what causes the uses of mobile devices that students have and bring with them for the school environment . The methodological basis of the research of this study followed a qualitative approach , with the locus two public elementary schools and two public high school located in the city of Anapolis -GO . Proposed to observe the daily life of these four schools in the first half of 2013 , for a period of three months , to investigate the uses that students make their mobile devices when they are in school . The premise that guided the choice of schools to be surveyed was a collective process involving the authorization and assistance of the Regional Secretariat for Education and Municipal Education Anapolis . Because the object of this research it is a technology prohibited by laws and school regulations , the criteria for defining the schools was the authorization of municipal and state administrations in the development of the study and accepted the director of each school. The procedures for data collection included direct observation in classrooms , in and out , in the intervals of recreation , informal conversations , and spontaneous reports of respondents noted in registry protocols . A questionnaire was administered to 1022 students and, student photos and videos were generated using concealed or openly their phones . The survey takes into account the theoretical de Lemos (2004 , 2009) , Santaella ( 2007, 2010 ) , Nicolaci - da - Costa (2004 ) , Souza e Silva (2006 ) , Moura ( 2009,2010 ) , Caron and Caronia ( 2005) , Buckingham (2007 ) , Libâneo (2000 , 2006, 2008 , 2012) Nóvoa (2009 ) among others . With cell phones always around, young people are immersed in an ecosystem multimedia communication, with diffuse and decentered cultural experience that cause conflicts inside and outside the classroom. The uses to which young people observed did their mobiles in school reinforced the exercise of authoritarianism, coercion and control by the academic institution. Faced with behavioral challenges, technical, pedagogical and administrative communication, there could be room for dialogue and negotiation being the subjects that live in each school.
