A Gramática ambiental em Carmo Bernardes: representações do cerrado em Relembranças

Abstract

This dissertation investigates the ecological character of the autobiographical books of the writer Carmo Bernardes da Costa (1915-1996), based on his strategies for representing nature. The first chapter analyses his prose and his belonging to the genre of the chronicle, as well as his relationship with memorial and autobiographical writing. It highlights his career as a writer and his narrative approach. The second chapter discusses the category of memory and its possible connections with environmental issues, exploring how regionalist literature can contribute to an understanding of the Cerrado and its historical and cultural representation. The third chapter analyses the ways in which nature is represented in Força da Nova and Quarto Crescente, taking into account different narrative perspectives. The study proposes a dialogue between regional literature, ecology, history and geography in the author's work
