Construções discursivas de personagens gays em materialidades audiovisuais sobre a infidelidade

Abstract

This disser tation has the general objective of analyzing the occurrence of infidelity of gay characters in Brazilian audiovisuals, such as Depois de Tudo, by Rafael Saar (2008); Pôr do Sol em Dias Nublados, by Eduardo Martins (2020); Conflitos, by Rafael Jardins (202 1). To understand in discourse, from an audiovisual perspective, how infidelity is related to same sex relationships. The specific objectives are: i) to describe how infidelity develops in short films based on their registration in Discourse Analysis; ii) identify the characters’ desires that lead them to seek affection outside their relationship; iii) and finally, demonstrate how society and the period in which the characters are inserted influence the forms of demonstrations of romantic affection, allowin g us to see in the discourse, the practices of dominance and disciplinary power, establishing the patterns of “normal” relationships that they were imposed by the social discourse of what can be seen and what should be censored. This research is part of th e Discourse Analysis methodology, bringing as theoretical support Foucault (1984, 1988, 1995, 1996, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2008) who associates it with the threat of stability in relationships and the search for plenitude in life, regarding the reflections of c lassical philosophers. The different philosophical views on infidelity throughout history are explored, highlighting the approaches of Ahrndt (2005) and Pittman (1994). In addition to using the audiovisual practices of Milanez (2011, 2013, 2019). These per spectives highlight the complexity of the topic and its relevance in different contexts, going beyond a simple moral transgression to include psychological, political and social aspects. By analyzing three short films that address infidelity in same sex re lationships, the study highlights how the complex dimensions of human relationships, sexuality, personal identity and fidelity are explored in these narratives. These analyzes contribute to an open dialogue about the complexities of same sex relationships and the importance of understanding the uniqueness of these experiences within the broader context of human relationships.
