Questão agrária e igreja no bispado de Dom tomás Balduino(1964-1985)

Abstract

This research configures an interpretative analysis of the political-historical meaning of Don Tomás Balduino's work with rural workers of the Diocese of Goiás, in the struggle for permanence on earth, the right of access to it and its organization as a political body. Although it is an interpretative analysis in which the political character has its primacy, the religious aspect is extremely relevant, considering that it is he who offers the bases and the reason for existence, while political struggle that is guided by pastoral practices. Methodologically, the work is guided by the dialectical historical materialism of Marx, Engels and Viana, but formulations about the Science of Religion were also inserted, from Otto and Croatto, taking the pastoral practice of the Diocese of Goiás, as a practical manifestation of religious faith and agent of transformation. In addition to these formulations, the contributions of other authors were inserted, especially those of José de Souza Martins, Scott Mainwaring, Hobsbawm and Pessoa. The research is organized in three chapters and although the time frame is the Diocese of Goiás between the years (1964 - 1985), the analysis goes back until the 1950s, when the first formal intervention of the Catholic Church is included, through the letter of Don Inocêncio Engelke. The first chapter contains discussions on the relations between church, social classes and state. The second discusses the agrarian question and the Church's relationship with the earth. In the third, the focus is On Don Tomás Balduino, addressing the Assemblies of the Diocese of Goiás and emphasizing the performance of Don Tomás and his direct or indirect relationship with the articulations of struggle for land.
