Abstract

This work investigates the microconstructions Será que, Será se and Serasse, based on theoretical-methodological assumptions of Usage-Based Models, by authors such as Bybee (2010, 2015), Traugott and Troudale (2013) Croft (2001) Langacker (2013) Fauconnier and Turner (2002). It is hypothesized that such uses indicate a process of linguistic change by which Will would be replacing Will, as well as leading to the development of a modal value through the migration of the verb to be - lexical value - to a discursive element, with dubious epistemic modal value, crystallized, among other elements, by the futurity of the verb and by the chunking that occurred between the verb and the pronoun se in the Serasse construction. This use, which is a phenomenon of current synchrony and limited to informal situations of interaction, both in speech and writing, on the internet, seems to be the result of a mixture of semantic domains of modality and conditionality, with the discursive function of an intersubjective marker, or in other words, a kind of modalizing construction. The aim is, therefore, to describe the uses of these microconstructions in terms of syntactic and semantic-discursive factors, to promote an interpretative analysis of the change process, as well as to identify the contexts of the uses, in order to characterize the use as a constructional change, or a constructionalization. The corpus under analysis brings together data collected in the Portuguese Corpus and on social networks
