Abstract
This research, entitled
Memories of a teacher in (permanent) formation:
sentipensando performative discursive and corpolitica l trajectories of the profession” profession”,
aims to explore and problematize the memories of a Black and fat female teacher
regarding her existence and feelings about her professional practice, based on her
self understanding and the possibilities she envisions for the future, with regard to the
m eanings attributed to teacher education and the teaching profession.
Methodologically, it is grounded in narratives and autoethnography (MÉNDEZ, 2013;
FRANK, SABOTA, 2024; hooks, 1989, 1994, 2019), within a qualitative inte rpretive
framework. The investiga tion is anchored in Critical Language Education (MOITA
LOPES, 2014; FRANK, 2013, 2021, 2023, 2024) and dialogues with contributions from
corpolitics and decoloniality (KILOMBA, 2019; COLLINS, 2022; FANON, 2020; DAVIS,
1965/ 2024; FRANK, 2023, 2024), as part of an exercise of narrating who I am
becoming. The empirical material was drawn from memories and lived experiences,
encouraging the telling of my own life story within its social context. The reflections
highlight the com plexity of discussions involving racial and fatphobic issues in social
spaces and in the process of teacher education, considering the reality of constructing
a Black/fat identity under racial oppression and stereotyping in a colonized country.
