Igreja São Francisco de Paula e Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Abadia na Cidade de Goiás : patrimônio cultural de portas fechadas?

Abstract

This research seeks to bring a reflection on the way of managing the Cultural Heritage of the city of Goiás, with regard to the community's access to these assets that are closed. The focus will be on the preservation actions of public bodies, their attributions and how this affects the community that holds this Heritage. The objective is to highlight the use and absence of use of the monuments Igreja de São Francisco de Paula and Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Abadia, relating the history of the buildings, the legislation, the inspection of IPHAN (Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional), exposing the difficulties generated and consequences of COVID-19, which further complicated the continuous opening of these spaces. This work demonstrates the need for effective actions that bring continuous use to monuments that are closed. The research makes a cut focusing on the monuments of the São Francisco de Paula Church and Nossa Senhora da Abadia Church, in which the first is in continuous use in recent years in action carried out by the Bom Senhor Jesus dos Passos Brotherhood, and the second remains closed. , being open only during the celebration of its patron saint and Holy Week. The monuments, although considered “material goods”, are the places of memory that shelter and represent in the imagination the faith of the community, and therefore must be preserved. The product of the research will be the access to the two churches through a virtual visit through an internet address, seeking to show not only the technical capture of the real images of the monuments, but also to awaken feelings and interests that go beyond the image on the screen.
