Noite estrelada no Palácio de Tábuas : vivências e partilhas com alunos da Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) no Museu do Catetinho

Abstract

The aim of this research is to foster experiences in museums with young people in adult education, with the goal of transforming cultural heritage into a resource for promoting citizenship. In this process, we recognize students as individuals who have significant knowledge and experiences, thus reinforcing their identity as active citizens. The research involves a documentary analysis of the patrimonialization and musealization of Catetinho, the object of study, and uses the methodology of action research, structured around individual and collective meetings in the school environment with teachers and EJA students from a public school in the Federal District, culminating in an evening experience at the Catetinho Museum. The results reveal that school staff face challenges in implementing heritage education programs and emphasize the importance of addressing local cultural heritage, especially the cultural manifestations of the community. The sample consisted of 57.9% female participants and a predominance of 73.7% middle-aged adults.Most of the students work in services and commerce, and a significant proportion had never visited a museum. The evening visit included activities such as interpretation in Libras, mediation in the exhibition, live music, artistic activities and a virtual reality experience, all of which were positively evaluated. This highlights the need for educational material on cultural heritage for the EJA and the importance of training teachers to continue the actions. The research resulted in a book-catalog of the museum's long-term exhibition, adapted to be understandable and meaningful for the EJA audience. It highlights the need for advances in public policies to combat the invisibility of EJA students and promote cultural accessibility for this audience in cultural spaces and in the preservation of the community's heritage.
