Abstract
Intellectual disability (ID) is characterized by reduced cognitive development, which is usually
below the expected for the chronological age of children, adolescents and adults. It is worth
remembering that the university has its social role, therefore, in addition to the development of
skills, it must also guarantee citizenship education, which includes the right of students with
disabilities to knowledge. Based on this premise, this research was carried out with the objective
of understanding the contribution of Google Earth Pro images associated with fieldwork, in the
learning of students with ID, in environmental studies of the Cerrado. The content studied was
the impacts resulting from the use and occupation of urban land, and the area chosen to carry out
the study was the Chapéu de Padre stream basin, in the urban area of the city of Goiás (GO). The
definition of the area was motivated by the fact that it is located near the State University of
Goiás/Campus Cora Coralina and constitutes a space for students to experience. The main
procedures performed were: a) literature review on: inclusion and higher education; intellectual
disability; teaching, satellite imagery and fieldwork; environmental impacts and urban land use;
b) documentary research to understand inclusion in higher education and the inclusive education
policy of the State University of Goiás (UEG); c) semi-structured interview, to raise the notions
that the undergraduates participating in the research had about geotechnologies, focusing on
satellite images, which are products of remote sensing; d) elaboration of spatial representations,
before and after the reading and analysis of satellite images, to evaluate the contribution of the
methodology used; e) workshops and activities carried out using Google Earth Pro for reading
and analyzing the landscape and identifying environmental impacts; f) field work, to compare
with the imagery study and add new information on the analysis of the landscape and the study
of environmental impacts. In this context of strengthening inclusion in the teaching of Geography,
and the consequent meeting the demands of these students, the Google Earth Pro images
associated with fieldwork were presented as procedures that contributed to their learning, when
reading and analyzing the linked landscape studies on environmental impacts in the Cerrado.
